Circular Compensation

This is the feed rate you calculated for a straight cut.
Compensated Feed (at Center)

0.0

IPM
Adjusted by 0.00x for tool path geometry.
Why Compensate?

Most CNC controllers calculate feed rates based on the center of the tool. When milling a curve, the tool edge travels a different distance than the center.

Internal Milling (Bore)

The edge travels further than the center. If you don't slow down, the edge feed will be way too high!

F_center = F_edge × (D_part - D_tool) / D_part
External Milling (Boss)

The edge travels less than the center. You can speed up to maintain productivity.

F_center = F_edge × (D_part + D_tool) / D_part
Danger: Failing to compensate in a small bore can increase actual chip load by 200%+, leading to instant tool failure.
